Time Lapse  Photography

The  Basics

What is Time Lapse Photography?

Time Lapse Photography is a technique where you take multiple photos with the camera of a subject you would like to see change over a period of time and then put it together in video

Supplies

  • DSLR Camera

  • Tripod

  • Intervalometer

Camera Settings

The camera settings vary depending on your subject and location. It is often set to manual mode but can be set to different modes as well. The intervalometer timer settings also vary on the subject and location.

Tip: Always set the intervalometer longer than the exposer

Editing

After capturing the photos, you will need to assemble it together into a video.

Using iMovie, you can put all your images together to form a video. You can increase the pace of the video by increasing the speed under the clip adjustments.  LRTimelpase is software that tackles images that have flicker by editing them per frame and putting it together into a video.

Challenges

  • Set the camera settings right for the specific location
